Approach
When I begin a piece, I'm regularly driven to answer a question once frequently posed to discern crackling folk and early rock music from the chaff: "what's this piece got to say?".

For me, the answer to this question means exploring emotional depths, perspectives, and shocks that reveal themselves only when we intentionally dive below the expected, smoothly rendered surface of people, place, and dream to explore surprising collisions of form, anatomy, and dimension. Our physical and emotional realities are often deeper and more nuanced than skin and surface renderings convey.
I've been fortunate to study at several inspiring institutions, including: the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (Boston), the Corcoran Gallery (Washington), the University of Virginia, and the University of Pennsylvania.
